Nov 26 - Christmas Spirit Comes To Gibraltar At Convent Christmas Fair

More than a thousand people of all ages are expected to walk through the Convent doors for the Convent Christmas Fair held from 12pm to 7pm today.

With more than 40 stalls selling everything from Christmas treats to toys, as well as a Santa's Grotto, the Loreto Convent Choir performing, mulled wine and refreshments. The raffle will be held at 6.30pm, and there were plenty of prizes up for grabs as well as a Honda MSX 125 CC motorbike which was donated by Bassadone.

Local charities and organisations including Cancer Relief, the Gibraltar Hearing Impaired Tinnitus Association (GHITA), and The Armed Forces Charity SSAFA, had stalls to help raise money and help towards the cause, and the Round Table ran Santa's Grotto this year.

This year, money raised from the event will go towards a number of children charities, including The Saffron Rose 4 Rett Charitable Trust, Down’s Syndrome Support Group Gibraltar, Autism Support Gibraltar, and Pathway Through Pain.

Convent Christmas Fair Committee Chairman Suzy Kirkby said: "It's such a beautiful day and everyone is out and about. We have so many beautiful stalls, with some new stalls this year. The Cloisters look lovely, and it's great to see people outdoors enjoying their refreshments, and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves."
