Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Tunbridge, Senior Investigating Officer of The Royal Gibraltar Police can confirm that a thorough Murder investigation carried out into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of four bodies in a residence at Boschetti’s Steps on the 30th of March 2015 has now concluded.

In a statement made yesterday, the RGP confirmed no evidence of a third person being involved has been discovered and the matter has been handed over to HM Coroner, Mr Charles Pitto. The families of the deceased’s have been informed.

Operation Indigo has been the largest Murder enquiry conducted by the Royal Gibraltar Police, where we have worked closely with the National Crime Agency (NCA) and several Constabularies in the UK and also the Policia Nacional (CNP) in Estepona.

The Investigation Team has throughout the enquiry worked very closely with:

1. Home Office Forensic Pathologist, Dr Nathaniel Cary

2. Consultant Paediatric Pathologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Dr Liina Kiho

3. Forensic Clinical Psychologist with the NCA, Dr Adrian West

4. The National Injuries Database, NCA, and

5.LGC Forensics, the UK’s leading independent forensic science provider

The RGP respectfully requests that the Press do not speculate on the outcome of the investigation as this will be the subject of the Coroner’s Inquest findings, which will be open to the Press to report on.

According to the BBC, at an inquest held in May by the Coroner for North East Wales and Central, John Gittins, said: "The wife of Mr Shannon had taken action against him and the children then took her own life."

The RGP refused to comment on this, and stated investigations were ongoing at the time.
