Apr 26 - Man Fined For Common Assault

A local businessman who was set to go on trial yesterday on suspicion of attempted wounding with intent was fined £400 for common assault at the Supreme Court.

The charge of attempted wounding with intent was dropped against Ashok Aidasani, who was arrested in August last year following an alleged domestic violence incident in his home, due to insufficient evidence.

Aidasani pleaded guilty to one count of common assault in the Supreme Court and was ordered to pay a fine for £400 by Puisne Judge Karen Ramagge Prescott.

He was represented by Haresh Budhrani QC while Johann Fernandez appeared for the Crown.
