Jul 26 - Ukrainian Visitor Charged With Outraging Public Decency

A Ukrainian man visiting Gibraltar has today been charged with one count of Outraging Public Decency. This is in addition to an earlier charge of disorderly conduct whilst intoxicated in connection with the same incident.

The charge follows 49-year-old Oleksondr OSTAPENKO’s arrest during the evening of Thursday 21st July, when uniformed officers responded to complaints from the public regarding a male person continuously harassing and directing offensive gestures at women and children in the vicinity of Casemates Square.

He remains in Police custody and will be appearing before the Magistrates’ Court at 10am on Wednesday 27th July 2016.

In connection with this investigation, we are appealing for anyone who may have also had contact with this individual in the town area during the evening of Thursday 21st July 2016, to contact officers of the Criminal Investigation Department via New Mole House switchboard Tel (+350) 20072500.
