Aug 23 - Three Spaniards Try To Steal Jet-Skis In Ocean Village

Three Spanish nationals attempted to steal two jet-skis in Ocean Village yesterday evening but were arrested before they could leave the Rock.

The three men were observed attempting to steal the jet-skis by off-duty GDP and RGP officers.

All three were arrested shortly afterwards in the area of the southern runway by RGP patrol officers responding to the call, with a pair of discarded bolt-cutters also seized in the vicinity following a search by the RGP Dog Section.

18 year-old Spanish national Joaquin Carrillo Gil, a resident of La Linea, 19 year-old Juan Carlos Vazquez Garrido, a resident of San Roque, and a 17 year-old male Spanish juvenile, were charged last night jointly with the following offences:

- 2 counts of Attempted Theft

- 1 count of Going Equipped for Theft

- 1 count of Entering Gibraltar other than via the Land Frontier

All three pleaded guilty at the Magistrates’ Court this morning, and were remanded in custody at HM Prison Windmill Hill until the 13th September pending a pre-sentencing report.
