    The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).

Feb 23 - HM Customs Seize 1,800 Cartons Of Cigarettes

Whilst conducting an operation on the East side to curtail illicit tobacco activity, Customs Officers intercepted a local vehicle loaded with 300 cartons.

A search of a garage in the vicinity was also conducted and a further 1,500 cartons were seized.

Two Spanish nationals have been arrested as a result of this operation.

The value of the cigarettes is estimated to be in excess of £33,000 and the investigation continues.
