Jul 22 - RGP Offers Amnesty on Weapons in Gibraltar

rgpDuring an incident over the weekend, a number of persons were arrested and have appeared before the court, for being in possession of a prohibited weapon, namely a BB gun.

The RGP has noted that although legal in Spain, such weapons are illegal to possess and import into Gibraltar, and are therefore offering an amnesty for persons in possession of these ‘to hand them in at New Mole House Police Station where the RGP will then arrange for the destruction of these weapons.’

The amnesty has been extended to other kinds of weapons including real firearms and knives. Persons and even parents of children in possession of these are urged to hand these in without fear of prosecution.

The amnesty will start at 0700 hours tomorrow morning (Wednesday 23rd July) and will end at 0700 hours on Wednesday 30th July 2014.
