    The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).

Sep 19 - RGP Officers Attacked During Frontier Operation

rgpIn the early hours of this morning RGP officers were attacked in the area of the construction site at the Frontier East Gate. During an operation that uncovered 18 half boxes of tobacco, made up of 90,000 cigarettes in the area the officers were attacked by rocks, thrown by a large group of people on the Spanish side of the frontier.

Further officers were called in to assist, but were attacked again by a further nine Spanish men hiding on the Gibraltar side of the Frontier, who quickly escaped into Spain.

No Police Officers were injured, although a Police Van sustained some damage. Investigations into the matter continue.
