Oct 22 – Two Lithuanians Charged After Counterfeit Currency Investigation

As a result of an investigation by officers of the Serious Crime Unit, two Lithuanian nationals have been arrested and charged with offences relating to counterfeit currency.

Zilvinas Lebeckis, 23 years of age, not resident in Gibraltar, has been charged with one count of having in his custody sixty nine (69) counterfeit twenty (20) Euro notes.

Andrius Varanauskas, 19 years of age, not resident in Gibraltar, has been charged with one count of tendering two counterfeit twenty Euro notes, and one count of having in his custody three counterfeit 20 Euro notes.

They were both kept in cells and will both appear at the Magistrates Court at 10am this morning.
