Jan 30 - Local Man Fined For Possession Of Firearm And Ammunition

Yesterday afternoon, armed officers of the RGP’s Crime & Protective Services Division mounted an operation which resulted in the arrest of 34 year-old British national David PILKINGTON of Heathfield House on suspicion of possession of a firearm and ammunition, namely a Gammo P- 800 Air Pistol with 65 pellets.

PILKINGTON had been challenged by officers in the area of North Mole Road and escorted to his residence where a search warrant under Section 30 of the Firearms Act was executed, resulting in the seizure of the said weapon and ammunition. The said search was carried out with the assistance of the RGP’s Firearms Detection dog.

PILKINGTON was later charged with the offences of possession of a firearm without a valid licence and possession of ammunition, again without a valid licence. He was bailed out and appeared before the MagistratesCourt this morning where he entered guilty pleas to both charges and was fined a total of £200.
