Mar 02 - Two Locals Arrested Following Eastern Beach Fight

Shortly after 6.30pm on yesterday evening, RGP officers of an Area Response Team arrested two local males at Eastern Beach. This followed reports of a fight in progress. Following investigations the two men have been charged as follows:

David PILKINGTON of Heathfield House, aged 34, charged with:

1)  Affray

2)  Wounding with intent

3)  Wounding

4)  3 counts of Assault occasioning Actual Bodily Harm

5)  Failing to supply a specimen of breath

Benito CRUZ of St Joseph’s Estate, aged 53, was charged with:

1) Affray

2) Common Assault


During the incident CRUZ sustained injuries which required hospital treatment, following which he was placed in police cells.

Both Pilkington and Cruz have been kept in police cells pending their appearances at the Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

A 41-year-old locally resident Spanish man and a 49-year-old local woman also required hospital treatment following the incident. Both were discharged shortly after.
