Mar 30 – Local Woman On Trial For Assault

The trial of a local woman accused of hitting another woman started this morning at the Supreme Court.

Elaine Garro is charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and a lesser, alternative charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The case dates back to an incident in November 2012 when the defendant allegedly hit her partner’s ex-wife by Naval Hospital Hill. The victim reportedly sustained an injury to her left eye as a result of the assault.

Garro denies the charges and will argue that she acted in self-defence.

Chris Miles is representing her and the trial is set to last no longer than three days.
