Jun 29 - Man Who Threatened To Burn Down City Hall Given Rehab Order
A local man who pleaded guilty to phoning the Housing Department offices at City Hall and threatening to burn down the building was allowed to go home after 13 months in custody.
Karl Henry Danino, of Valiant House, Varyl Begg, was given a 12-month community order, a drug rehabilitation treatment, an alcohol rehabilitation treatment and a mental health treatment requirement at the Supreme Court earlier this afternoon.
Chief Justice Anthony Dudley explained that the time he had already spent in jail would be equivalent to being sentenced to 18 months. He added that the chances for re-offending would be minimised by the community order sentence.
Danino was represented by David Dumas QC, assisted by Joelle Wahnon.
