Sep 02 - Man Found Dead After Fire Breaks Out In City Mill Lane Home
A fire broke out at a home in City Mill Lane last night where a 68-year-old Moroccan man was found dead.
Firefighters were called to a block of flats in City Mill Lane at around midnight when a fire spread quickly. The residents were evacuated and taken to New Mole House Police Station where they spent the night and traffic was called to a halt in the area.
The fire was extinguished over a couple of hours and the area was monitored over night to ensure it was fully out.
No foul play was suspected, and a post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death of the Moroccan national.
A spokesman for the Royal Gibraltar Police said a structural engineer will be attending today, and investigations will be carried out by the CSI team as well as the fire investigation team to determine the cause of the fire.
UPDATE: The RGP and Minister Sacramento’s office have arranged for the evacuated persons (over 20 of them) to be moved into the Retreat Centre today.
