May 05 - Bigger, Better GMF To Feature Dance And Comedy Acts…And Wristband Refunds

The fifth edition of the Gibraltar Music Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Speaking to the press following this morning’s announcement of top acts like Stereophonics, Jess Glynne, Rosario and All Saints, the Minister for Culture Steven Linares said: “We are sure that this year will be as good as last year and we’re working to make it even better!”

Mr Linares emphasized the family-friendly atmosphere that the festival aims to create: “We want families to come to the festival – the idea is that all generations from the young to parents and grandparents can come. This is part and parcel of trying to expand the experience to make sure facilities are there for the whole family.”

To keep the excitement levels running high, organisers today said that a future announcement of further acts for the two-day festival is expected “within weeks.”

The team also took the opportunity to thank the public for the positive and constructive feedback it had provided about how to improve the festival and suggestions for possible bands and performers.

Comedy and Dance

A mixture of local and international acts will, for the first time in the festival’s history, provide dance and standup comedy entertainment.

The organisers say this will broaden the appeal of the weekend event adding that the experience of attending the 2016 edition will be noticeably improved.

“It will be much more of a theme park type experience this year – that’s what we’re aiming for,” said Owen Smith of Word of Mouth Productions (WOMP).

Refunds

The organisers were also happy to confirm to YGTV that this year people will be able to claim a refund of unused credit left on festival wristbands after the event.
