May 24 – Local Playwright Gets Second Play Published In U.S

A second play by local playwright Julian Felice has been selected for publication by Eldridge Plays, a publishing agent specialising in plays for schools and youth groups based in the United States.

Challenger: To Touch the Face of God looks at the story of the disaster involving the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1986, when seven astronauts lost their lives shortly after launch.

The play explores the lives of the crew members, as well as examining the controversial issues that contributed to the disaster, using dialogue taken from the event itself in the style of Verbatim Theatre. It was entered in the 2015 Gibraltar Drama Festival and the 2015 Duncan Rand Youth One-Act Play Festival held at Medway Little Theatre in Rochester (Kent). Upon publication, the play will be marketed across the United States and Europe via the company’s catalogue, convention stands and website.

This is the second of Julian’s plays to be published by Eldridge Plays after Mary Jane of Whitechapel in 2013. This play, which tells the story of Jack the Ripper’s final victim, has since been performed in a number of locations across the United States, including making the final eight out of over 150 entries in the North Dakota State Play Contest. The publication of Challenger: To Touch the Face of God also comes shortly after three of Julian’s plays were published locally in a collection entitled Three Gibraltar Plays.

Challenger: To Touch the Face of God is available directly from the publisher’s website (www.histage.com) or from the Julian Felice – Playwright page on Facebook, where Julian’s other published works are also available.
