May 26 - GAMPA Presents “Kids Rock”

Summer is just around the corner and The Gibraltar Academy of Music and Performing Arts (GAMPA) are preparing their end of year production “Kids Rock”.

This original production was first performed in 2011 with a cast of singers and actors from Santos Productions Academy.  Now that GAMPA has a vast array of instrumentalists, this show has been reworked and will see singers and actors and many different ensembles featuring String, Woodwind, Brass and Percussion, as well as the Gibraltar Youth Choir (formerly Santos Productions Choir).

The story is centered around a performing arts school and the children that study there.  They are informed that the theatre where they take lessons and perform in will be closed down due to lack of funding.  The students decide to organise a concert in order to raise funds for the repairs.  It is a story about triumph through adversity and friendships that will last a lifetime and is guaranteed to tug at your heartstrings and make you feel like a child again.

Organisers say that “Kids Rock” is a family show that will entertain every member of the family from the young to the not so young.

A representative added: “There are over 150 students from the Academy involved in this production and this big family will ensure you enjoy every minute.  It is fast paced and full of energy.  We all say Gibraltar is full of talent and in “Kid’s Rock” this talent is well on show and will surprise everyone.  It is a very dynamic energetic show that will surely have everyone dancing in their seats.”

Tickets at £12 go on sale at the Nature Shop, Casemates Square as from Wednesday 1st June.
