Feb 26 - Local Band SuperWookie Reunites!
Local band SuperWookie has teamed up again after a seven-year lull. Frontman Jonathan Sacramento, bassist Jason Belilo, guitarist Alex Zapata and drummer Martin Figueras went their separate ways in 2008 following the 2007 release of their self titled record and going on to support Marillion as they kicked off their European tour.
But the inevitability of the seven-year itch has hit home. Jason teamed up with his brother Steven, (known to the world as ‘Noni’) to ignite the SuperWookie reunion. A statement released by the band claims that ‘They dragged Jonathan and Alex kicking and screaming into the band room, and together they’ve discovered a new stream of creativity coupled with nostalgia for the old material. Their set list, which they’ve been banging out since November, now consists of the most popular tracks from their album, and a stream of new material which they’re very excited about sharing.’
Eleven performances have been planned to take place around Gibraltar in the lead up to Summer. The first gig will be held tomorrow at Rock on the Rock together with 3 Days to Rise. Doors will open as from 10:30pm.
