Mar 03 - Mei Posso Takes First Prize In Young Artists Competition

Mei Posso took the first prize in the Art Competition for Young Artists organised by the Gibraltar Cultural Services on behalf of the Ministry of Culture. The Minister for Culture, Steven Linares, officially opened the Exhibition and presented the awards yesterday evening at the John Mackintosh Hall.

Fifty four artists have submitted a total of ninety five works. International artist, George Kowzan carried out the judging.

The Prize winners are as follows:
1st The Ministry of Culture Prize - £1000 No. 78 Mei Posso ‘Façade’

2nd The Aquagib Prize - £500
 No. 68 Louis Peralta ‘Portrait of Bathsheba Peralta’

The Alwani Foundation Award School Years 9 – 11- £500 No. 25 Naomi Duarte ‘Meet my Grandfather’

The Alwani Foundation Award School Years 12 – 13 - £500 No. 94 Stephanie Yeo ‘Crescendo’

The exhibition will be open to the general public as from today until Friday 13th March, weekdays from 9.30am to 9.30pm.
