Mar 04 – Spring Festival 2015 Visual Arts Competition

Gibraltar Cultural Services on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, will be holding a Spring Visual Arts Competition in June 2015 as part of the Gibraltar Spring Festival.

The competition will see changes to previous editions with innovations in the accepted art forms. The new categories added include digital art, video, photography and installations. This is in line with Government’s policy of promoting contemporary arts in Gibraltar and abroad.

The visual arts competition is open to Gibraltarians and residents of Gibraltar aged 16 and over as at 16th June 2015. A maximum of two entries may be submitted by each artist. Works must be original and not previously entered competitively, except for entries submitted in the Ministry’s art competition for Young Artists.

Prizes to be awarded are:

Ministry of Culture Painting, Drawing and Digital Painting Award: £2,000

Ministry of Culture Installation Award: £1,000

Ministry of Culture Sculpture Award: £750

The Alwani Foundation Award for the Best Gibraltar Theme: £750

Ministry of Culture Photography Award: £750

Ministry of Culture Video Award: £750

Entry forms and artworks for the video category and project descriptions for the installations may be handed in at the John Mackintosh Hall, 308 Main Street as from Monday 4th May between 1pm and 5pm. The closing date for entries is Friday 8th May 2015.

Entries for all other categories may be handed in at the John Mackintosh Hall, as from Monday 1st June 2015 between 1pm and 5pm. Closing date for receipt of entries is Friday 5th June 2015.

Entries will be exhibited at the John Mackintosh Hall from the 17th to the 23rd June 2015.
