Mar 31 - Gibraltar International Song Festival Presents Björn Again and 14 Original Finalists
This morning the Gibraltar International Song Festival 2015 was announced by Chairman of the committee for the Festival, Joe Carseni with a headlining performance to be provided by world renown Abba tribute band Björn Again.
Joe, the Gibraltar Government’s representative in the US, was a former winner of the original song festival, which was revived in 2007 by the current committee to include an international twist in an effort to promote Gibraltar internationally via the medium of music.
Entries for this years festival reached a record high of almost 700, coming from vast corners of the Globe including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Greece, Nicaragu, Pakistan, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates.
The finale will be held at the Tercentenary Hall and will present the 14 finalists’ original songs. Four prizes are up for grabs, including £4000 for the 1st place winner, £2000 for 2nd place, £1000 for 3rd place and £500 for best interpreted piece.
Additionally organisers committed to present any leftover profits to charity, using this morning’s press conference as an opportunity to present the Alzheimer’s Support Group with a cheque for £1000.
Tickets are now available for £10, from the Gibraltar Tourist Office, with the show set for May 8th.
