Apr 30 - Sam Bailey: “I Want To Live Here!” X-Factor Star Loves Gibraltar
Sam Bailey, the winner of X-Factor in 2013, touched down this morning at 10am ahead of her performance in tomorrow’s free May Day concert in Casemates. Her first reaction as she left the terminal and looked at the imposing northern face of the Rock was: “Wow, that’s amazing!”
The last time the singer visited Gibraltar was in 1999 when she was working aboard a cruise ship.
“I used to come onshore and go to Safeway to get a tin of ravioli!” she joked during a press conference held earlier this afternoon on the Sunborn.
The 37-year-old mother of three said she found Gibraltar a “relaxed, chilled out place” and added that she would like to live here.
The down-to-earth star revealed that she had not been changed by fame and continued to focus on family life.
“If you can’t be normal and not let things go to your head, you’ll never go to work again,” she said.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s event, Sam says there’ll be “some surprises” in store for the local crowd.
The pop star also said that she felt liberated when Simon Cowell dropped her explaining that working under Simon would have meant “doing a few cover albums” rather than performing her own compositions.
