    The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).

lidington UK Minister for Europe David Lidington this week visited Gibraltar in an effort to verse himself on the struggles faced by Gibraltarians during the ongoing dispute with Spain.

During the visit, the Minister reiterated the Uk Government's support for Gibraltar, adding that he wished for a relatively quick outcome for the 'outrageous' behaviour of the Spanish authorities. He went on to say that it is for the European Commission to take 'effective action and get Spain to revert to what they're entitled to do under the treaties, which is proportionate checks.'
