Nov 24 - French Consul Thanks Chief Minister And People Of Gibraltar

The French Consul, M Pierre Fayaud has written to the Chief Minister to thank both him and ‘the great people of Gibraltar’ for all their support following the terrorist attacks in Paris on 13 November.

M Fayaud goes on to say that he continues to receive messages of sympathy from members of the Gibraltar community and he adds that ‘It is when you suffer that you see your real friends.’

The Consul has reported back to the French Embassy in London to inform them of the Chief Minister’s kind words, the two minutes silence and the French colours being illuminated on the Moorish Castle. In his letter, M Fayaud also confirms that the Chief Minister’s letter of condolence has been delivered to President Hollande.

The letter ends with M Fayaud expressing a wish that ‘such terrible moments never happen in such a beautiful place’ as Gibraltar.
