Nov 26 - Polling Stations Close - Turnout Down – GBC Exit Poll Predicts Landslide GSLP-Libs Win

Voting is over at today’s General Election. Ballot boxes at all 14 polling stations across Gibraltar have been sealed and are now on their way to the John Mackintosh Hall for verification ahead of the count. The final result is expected at around 7am tomorrow morning.

According to the latest available statistics, voter turnout was down by 12% compared to the 2011 election with 70.77% of voters casting their vote by the time polling stations closed at 10pm, in comparison to 82.52% in 2011. By 9pm, only 69.51% of the electorate casting a vote by 9pm as compared to 81% in 2011.

The results of a GBC exit poll have also been announced. The broadcaster’s survey predicts that GSLP-Libs will win with 72% of the vote with the GSD trailing way behind on 28%. Over 900 voters participated in the poll.
