Feb 05 - Picardo: “Instinctively, We Know It’s Right To Stay In The European Union”

The Chief Minister has said that Gibraltarians “instinctively know” it’s right to stay in the European Union. His comments came following his return from a trip to London during which he met with Europe Minister David Lidington and Foreign Office officials to discuss the upcoming EU membership referendum.

Mr Picardo also said that there would be a campaign to put across Gibraltar’s message in the UK ahead of the vote which political commentators now predict is set to take place in June this year.

He explained that this message would have to reach people who are naturally supportive of the Rock so that Gibraltar’s interests are factored into their decision.

“There is an important point to made to people who feel passionate about Gibraltar and the right of its people to remain British,” he said.
