Aug 20 - Russian Frigate Refuels In Ceuta
The Russian frigate Yaroslav Mudry arrived in the Spanish port of Ceuta yesterday to take on fuel and water supplies during a short visit. The frigate is part of the Russian Federation’s Baltic fleet and has been operational since 2009. The warship is set to leave Ceuta this evening.
The visit, which follows others by several Russian Navy vessels in the past few months, is seen as controversial at a time when tensions between Russia and the West are at their highest since the end of the Cold War. The U.S and the E.U recently announced a raft of more extensive sanctions against Russia in response to its involvement with and support for separatist fighters in eastern Ukraine.
