Mar 26 - Government Replies To EU Waste Water Complaint
The Government has said that it acknowledges that the EU Commission has referred Gibraltar to court over the lack of a waste water treatment facility on the Rock.
At this juncture, the Government reminds the public that in October 2014 a contract was placed for a state-of-the-art waste water and sewage treatment plant, and that this was the first time in 300 years that this issue has been tackled for the benefit of Gibraltar’s community and environment.
The Government and the other involved parties are now well into the discussions over the detailed terms of the Project. On completion, the Project will ensure that Gibraltar is compliant with the EU’s Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive.
