Apr 28 - Workers’ Memorial Day Ceremony
A short ceremony was held this morning in the Parliament lobby to mark Workers’ Memorial Day. The ceremony was attended by local dignitaries, union leaders and representatives of Gibraltar’s essential services.
The theme of Workers’ Memorial Day this year is the removal of hazardous, dangerous and carcinogenic substances in the workplace.
Wreaths were laid as a mark of respect to all those who have died of suffered injury in the workplace.
Christian Duo, of Unite the union, said that his union would never give up campaigning for the increased safety of workers. The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, said his Government was committed to further improving health and safety in all sectors.
