Jun 30 - Declaration Of Compatibility – New Government Policy

The Government has announced, in line with its manifesto commitment, the introduction of a new procedure relating to the constitutionality of all Bills that are published after 1 July 2015.

Under the new arrangements, the Attorney General shall, by the time the Bill is taken in Parliament, consider whether the Bill is compatible with the provisions of the Gibraltar Constitution Order 2006, a principal and overriding enactment.

Where the Attorney General is satisfied that the Bill is compliant with the Constitution he will issue a Certificate of Compatibility.
