Jul 03 - Chief Minister Visits Glacis Estate

The Chief Minister yesterday visited Glacis Estate to inspect the ongoing refurbishments. In order to better understand tenants’ concerns about the works the Chief Minister met with representatives of the Tenants’ Association, as well as with individual tenants. The Chief Minister was accompanied by representatives of GJBS (the main contractor), the Ministry for Housing and the Housing Works Agency.

Mr Picado said: ‘I am very happy with the progress of the refurbishments to date. This previously forgotten housing estate has been given a new lease of life. I do understand that some tenants have concerns about the works and we are working hard to address these in a timely and professional manner. I will personally be returning to Glacis Estate at the end of July to ensure that the works discussed today are being completed to the highest possible standards. Today’s visit was an extremely valuable opportunity to catch up with tenants of Glacis Estate, both regarding the refurbishments and more generally, and I am grateful to the Tenants’ Association for their input. In the next few days I also intend to visit Laguna and Moorish Castle estates to make similar checks on the progress there.’
