Jul 24 - Government Says Feetham Is Tilting At Windmills In Latest Allegation Against Chief Minister

The Chief Minister Fabian Picardo entirely refutes the allegations made by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Feetham, to the effect that the letter sent by him to Mr Picardo was somehow "leaked" by the Chief Minister.

A statement from No6 said the allegation is untrue. Mr Picardo received the letter from Mr Feetham earlier this week and will reply in due course. Since then, the Speaker has in any event ruled that Mr Feetham breached Mr Picardo's Parliamentary Privilege by threatening to sue for defamation and goading him to repeat statements outside Parliament.

Mr Picardo said: "There is no question of my office leaking any letter from Mr Feetham. If I wanted people to read the nonsense he has written to me, I would simply have published it. GBC, who failed to ask me for a comment on the letter despite asking Mr Feetham for a comment, will be able to confirm it was not obtained from me or my office.

"Mr Feetham, who refused my olive branch in December, has tried to raise the level of rhetoric more and more as he has slipped further and further in popularity and who has been caught colluding with Spark to prejudice the community against LNG, doesn't know what to do now to try to present himself as a victim. I will shortly be responding to his letter, demonstrating how foolish its content is."
