Jul 30 - Minister Samantha Sacramento Attends Special Olympics World Games In Los Angeles
Samantha Sacramento, the Minister for Equality, has attended the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles. After walking out with Team Gibraltar at the opening ceremony in a show of support, the Minister cheered on the athletes in as many events as possible.
On Monday, Francis Mauro won the Bronze medal for the 50m breaststroke; Team Gibraltar’s first medal of the Games. Minister Sacramento congratulated Francis on behalf of the Government and presented him with his medal.
Minister Sacramento said: "It was a special honour to walk out with Team Gibraltar into the arena for the opening ceremony. I have enjoyed my time at the Games tremendously, spending as much with the athletes as possible and I was proud to present the first medal won by our athletes to Francis Mauro.
"I wish the athletes all the best for the remainder of the Games, and also commend the committee, coaches and volunteers who have been working hard in the build-up to the events. Their dedication to the athletes is clearly manifested in the results."
