Oct 02 - Local Businesses Focus On Their Future Leaders

Senior business leaders from two local finance firms have come together to mentor and develop the future business leaders of tomorrow.

Barclays and KPMG invited local businesses to identify their leaders of the future for Gibraltar's inaugural 'Future Leaders Programme' aimed at providing a forum for learning skills that will stand them in good stead for leadership roles within business.

The individuals put forward as aspiring leaders come from a wide range of sectors and industries and the programme is designed to give them the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and network.

The programme was successfully run in Guernsey last year and has been extended to the Isle of Man, Jersey, London, Cyprus and Gibraltar this year.

Four weekly sessions have been designed to cover both the softer human side and the more practical elements of leadership. The sessions are being held locally at the Elliott Hotel and have a two-part structure involving interactive discussion on the theme of the session followed by networking.

The programme in Gibraltar started on September 30 and the first session presented by Micky Swindale, KPMG's Head of People & Change, focused on building trusted relationships.

"Barclays Gibraltar is passionate about the growth and development of the future young leaders within the jurisdiction and believe that the Future Leaders Programme will assist in equipping the next generation with the right skill sets to positively contribute to the localĀ and global community" said Callie Lombard, Chief Country Officer for Barclays in Gibraltar.

Jon Tricker, Managing Director of KPMG Gibraltar added "KPMG is delighted to support the Barclays Future Leaders programme - our aim is to pass on knowledge and skills we have learned by experience in a more direct and structured way to ensure that our future leaders arrive in leadership roles armed with the skills to successfully lead Gibraltar in to the future".

The next Future Leaders session, hosted by Barclays on 8th October, will look at Personal brand, Networking and You.
