Oct 07 - RGP And Gibraltar Youth Service Hold Residential Weekend
The RGP Charity Committee has this year been working closely with the Gibraltar Youth Service and has once again offered to fund a residential weekend for young people. This is the second year that both organisations have joined forces to offer this exciting project to Gibraltar’s youth given the success of last year’s pilot scheme.
This residential took place from Friday 2nd October till Sunday 4th October and saw staff from Laguna Youth Club and the Royal Gibraltar Police take sixteen young people to ‘La Finca’, Alcaidesa. The aim of the weekend was to offer young people the possibility of enjoying new experiences and helping them develop their inter-personal and social skills by participating in a number of activities including rock climbing, archery, horse riding, team building tasks and nature walks through the countryside and learning about the inhabitants of the area.
This experience enabled young people to forge new friendships, face new challenges and, as one young person said, “I now understand that not everything is a competition.”
A special ‘Thank You’ must go to Bland Group of Companies for providing the transport and Argus for providing the insurance cover for the group.
