Nov 25 – PC Gingell Wins GDP Officer Of The Year

PC Tony Gingell has been awarded the first Gibraltar Defence Police (GDP) Officer of the Year Award in a recent ceremony at the GDP Headquarters.

PC Gingell was presented with an engraved glass cup, a £50 restaurant voucher and a certificate of achievement.

Second and Third place runner up prizes were awarded to PC Michael Celecia and PC David Ferrary respectively. Both officers were awarded a £50 restaurant voucher and certificate of achievement.

A number of nominations from Line Managers were put forward to a panel of senior representatives in the GDP and the nominations were considered alongside further operational evidence to decide on the 2015 winners.

Investing in people lies at the heart of Defence and this new initiative aims to help reward and recognize outstanding effort within the GDP. Chief Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Rob Allen said:

“This has been a particularly busy year for the Gibraltar Defence Police. Whilst the performance of the force as a whole has been remarkable, these officers have distinguished themselves by ‘going the extra mile’. I am extremely proud of the GDP’s ability to meet all of its tasks despite any challenges we may face.

“These three officers exhibit the ‘can do’ attitude that makes this possible. They are respected by peers and line-managers alike and it was an honour for me to present these first awards for excellence.”
