May 05 – University Establishes Sports Key Advisory Group

The University of Gibraltar has established a Sports Key Advisory Group to guide decisions regarding programme and short course offerings in this area. The group is exploring opportunities regarding formal degrees, professional body qualifications, practical skills and specialist training as well as leadership development offerings in the sports sector.

The University says that the Group, chaired by Reagan Lima, CEO of Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority, plays an important role in ensuring that the University offering is relevant to local needs in the areas of sport.

The Sports Key Advisory Group will help to guide decisions regarding programme and short course offerings in the this area. The group is exploring opportunities regarding formal degrees, professional body qualifications, practical skills and specialist training as well as leadership development offerings in the sports sector.

The Group will also play an important role in ensuring that the University offering is relevant to local sporting needs.

Members include: Reagan Lima- Chairman (Chief Executive Officer, Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority), Dennis Beiso (General Secretary, Gibraltar Football Association), Ingrid McIntosh (Sports Health), Jamie Zammitt (President, Gibraltar Amateur Swimming Association), Joe Hernandez (Sports Leadership and Business Expert), John Goncalves (President, Gibraltar Amateur Basketball Association), Kenneth Asquez (Sports and Football Agent), Kim Chang (Ex-lead in Sports and Business faculty at University of West England), Maurice Stagnetto (Chairperson, Gibraltar Rugby Football Union), Moira Gomez (Chairperson, Gibraltar Netball Association), Sally Holmes (Technical Director, Gibraltar Rhythmic Gymnastics Association ) and Stephen Payas (Coach, Sports Business and Board Member).
