May 31- The Friends Of Gibraltar Heritage Society Student Bursary Scheme

The University of Gibraltar and the UK-based Friends of Gibraltar Heritage Society are pleased to announce the launch of a Postgraduate Bursary Scheme.

The bursary scheme has been set-up to support the work of any postgraduate student of the University who is undertaking history (including natural history) and heritage-related study and research. It is open to students studying across a range of disciplines provided the bursary monies can be used to the benefit of Gibraltar by preserving its fabric, evolving environment and way of life. The aim of the bursary is to:

“Support the preservation and conservation of the natural and architectural fabric of Gibraltar, its character, environment and recognition of its history and in so doing its sense of heritage” and “Through knowledge and education to promote and maintain a close relationship and sense of heritage between the people of UK and Gibraltar.”

The bursary is worth £1,000 and will be available on an annual basis. It will be awarded through a process of open competition, overseen by the University’s Research and Research Degrees Committee.

The bursary competition is now open to University post-graduate students and the closing date for applications is Friday 1st July. The bursary winner is expected to be announced later in the summer.
