Jun 29 - IDO Conference Held In Gibraltar Hailed A Success

The world governing body for dance, the International Dance Organisation (IDO) rocked Gibraltar from the 23rd to 28th June 2016 when it held its Annual General Meetings, Departmental Meetings and Continental Conferences at the Caleta Hotel.

The event was organised by the Gibraltar National Dance Organisation (GNDO) and saw the reunion of 69 IDO member nations from five continents to discuss and decide IDO policy, rules and finances as well as the future development of the most prestigious and truly successful dance and dancesport organisation the IDO.

GNDO Vice President Wendy Garro said: "I take this opportunity to thank Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar and the International Dance Organisation for offering us the privilege to organise this prestigious event as well as the Ministry of Culture, the Mayor’s Parlour, the Caleta Hotel, all our partners, media and persons working behind the scenes for making our IDO Conference a reality.

"Gibraltar has once again so impressively placed Gibraltar on the world map, in what is another prime tourist and cultural event for Gibraltar in 2016. We look forward to working with the Government and the IDO, to organise further international events like these in the future. We are very proud that the IDO Conference have been an outstanding success story for Gibraltar!"

The Gibraltar National Dance Organisation also sent well wishes of congratulations to Paulette Finlayson and her dancers from the Gibraltar Academy of Dance, who have been selected to participate at the Dance Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in UK in October 2016.

The GNDO also takes the opportunity to wish all the very best of luck to Transitions Dance Academy from Gibraltar, who will be participating at the Prague Dance Festival, Czech Republic this forthcoming week.

The GNDO supports all club initiatives to participate at competitions, festivals and educational projects that will only serve to enhance Gibraltar’s local standards.
