Jul 28 - Special Olympics Gibraltar Travelling To Isle Of Man For Football Tournament

The Special Olympics Gibraltar football team will be heading to the Isle of Man on Friday to take part in the Gareth Cowin Memorial Trophy tournament this weekend.

They will be playing against teams from Iceland, Isle of Man, the Warrington Wolves, Everton Stones, Warrington Pandas, Everton Barkley and Liverpool County FA.

The tournament is held every year in memory of footballer Gareth Cowin, who had many friends in Gibraltar, who passed away at the Winter Games 2013 in South Korea.

With sponsorship from the GFA, Special Olympics Gibraltar will be able to compete in this year’s event after missing out last year due to a lack of funding.

The line up for Gibraltar include Jansen Gilbert, Jeremy Prescott, Marvin Zammitt, Darren Vinent, Lee Guierrero, Sam Hook, Giovanni Yeo, Nicholas Danino and they will be accompanies by Head of Delegation Annie Risso, Head Coach Rafael Celecia and coach James Danino.
