Sep 26 - Ministry Of Business And Employment Reminds Public Of E-Gov Services
The Government is reminding the public that all employment related forms are available for completion and submission online through the e-Gov portal (https://www.egov.gi). This is in line with the Government’s commitment to e-government.
Employers registered with the Department of Employment, under the Business Trades and Professions Act, have the option to complete and submit a wide range of documents online. These documents include Notification of Vacancies, Terms of Engagement, Variation of Terms of Engagement and Termination of Employment. The Department of Employment website contains useful information required by businesses. These on-line services modernise the form application process and reduce the administrative burden of businesses, by allowing employers to attend to their employment obligations online.
The community is reminded that in order make use of this new facility, they will require their new electronic identity cards, their new card’s PIN and also a card reader. Card readers are available for purchase at the Office of Fair Trading (Suite 975, Europort) and the Civil Status and Registration Office (Joshua Hassan House, 3 Secretary's Lane).
The Government also reminds the public that all forms related to the establishment of businesses are available for electronic submission through the Office of Fair Trading website, (www.oft.gov.gi), using the ‘Single Point of Contact’ online services. The website also contains helpful guidance including which forms are required for the establishment of any given business. It should be noted that payment for the renewal of Business Licences does not require an electronic identity card or card reader, only the invoice number and business license number.
Commenting on the above, the Minister for Business and Employment, Neil F. Costa, said: “The online facilities offered by Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar since last October are a welcome step to improve its services. Like with all new technological changes, it may take some time before the public take to these. I therefore encourage the public to make use of the facilities. I am certain the new system will be extremely beneficial to both businesses and the general public.”
