Sep 26 - Sean Vincent Acris Wins Mr Gibraltar Title

Saturday night was full of surprises as 10 men were whittled down to one to become this year’s Mr Gibraltar.

Sean Vincent Acris won the Mr Gibraltar title after seven intense weeks of preparation, photo shoots, rehearsals and charity work.

Speaking after the show, Sean said: “I must say it’s been an amazing experience and it’s been a long journey but we’ve finally arrived here tonight and I’ve made nine really good friends.

“I must say I look forward to this year and to all the opportunities that arise and do my best to build awareness against domestic violence.

“Taking part in the show has helped to boost my confidence, and I’ve learnt a lot about myself through the charity work, through the other candidates and the producers have been really supportive.”

When asked what he’s looking forward to in his year as Mr Gibraltar, Sean adds: “I’m looking forward to what’s next, I have no idea, but I am sure that the challenges that are ahead will be exciting, interesting and year, bring it on!”

First runner up went to Jordan Davis, 35, and Felix Bothen, 23, was announced as this year’s second runner up to Mr Gibraltar.

Paul Mauro was awarded Mr Overall, Josh Hamblin was awarded Mr Photogenic, Kelvin Hewitt was awarded Mr Personality, Mr Gibraltar himself Sean was awarded for the best interview, and second runner up Felix Bothem won the Top Model award, and Jordan Davis was also given the award for Mr Elegance.

The show started when the candidates marched onto the stage in their combat gear. There were cheers from the audience when they featured in the Emporio Armani underwear round followed by the Trends catwalk and an evening wear round.

The show differed from other men’s pageants as judges had to find one person who they thought embodied a 21st Century independent man who is able to cook, clean and look after himself without the help of a woman.

The judges, including Mrs Gibraltar 2015 Serika Garcia and Henry Sacramento, made their decision at the end of the show and Edwin Reyes, the Opposition's Spokesman for Culture handed out the prizes.

The show, put on by Ideal Productions and presented by organisers Angel Ressa and Mark Andrades, was held at the Alameda Open Air Theatre. The Mr Gibraltar show also featured upbeat music throughout the fashion shows and energetic performances by Danza Academy and Urban Dance, as well as former Mrs Gibraltar contestants who took part in a fashion show.

Mr Gibraltar will represent Gibraltar in an international pageant next year.
