Oct 21 - Lift Incident At Beach View Terraces

Beach View Terraces residents have taken to social media to express their concerns after a lift in Sand Dune House which a child and a man were travelling in suddenly dropped two floors.

A spokesman for Land Property Services acknowledged the incident, but explained that this had happened due to a faulty fire alarm.

He explained that the lifts are programmed to go back down to the ground floor any time that a fire alarm goes off, and said that CCTV footage showed the man and child exiting the lift showing no signs of injury or distress.

A concerned member of the public got in touch with YGTV claiming that the residents have been concerned for their safety, adding that they’ve had to deal with “faulty lifts, faulty barriers, a broken entry fob system” and “dirty” bin stores.

The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “We complain to the management company Brittania and we complain to GRP but nothing is done about it.

“We feel like they’ve washed their hands of us and no longer want to know anything about us, however when we complain they call us ungrateful.”
