Apr 22 - Exclusive: New Captain Of Port Was “Severely Reprimanded” For Negligence In 2001

It has emerged that the newly appointed Captain of the Port, Bob Sanguinetti, was “severely reprimanded” at a court martial after a Royal Navy frigate he was in charge of hit some rocks off the coast of Norway. The incident took place in September 2000 whilst HMS Grafton was navigating south of Oslo.

Mr Sanguinetti, who had the rank of Commander at the time of the incident, admitted negligence at the court martial at HMS Nelson, Portsmouth together with navigator Lieutenant Desmond Donworth.

The BBC story reveals that both were “punished with a severe reprimand” and could have risked losing seniority.
