Sep 12 - Bigger Initiative for Clean Up the World 2014

cutwTeam and site details for this year’s Clean Up the World Campaign, to be carried out on September 20th, were finalised this week. Twenty areas of focus have been decided upon and 30 teams have been put together.

A CUTW spokesperson noted that teams will be tackling green, seafront and upper rock sites, underwater and boat access only areas, the local environment will see direct benefit and awareness will be raised about litter problems and the need to implement further solutions.

Other events planned around the initiative include works to be carried out on the vegetation along Europa Advance Road, a CUTW exhibition at the Main Guard of John Mackintosh Square, which will also feature international campaigner Xavier Van de Stappen in Casemates on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th. An RAF foreign object debris campaign will also be launched as part of the initiative, along with a green car rally that will include electric and hybrid vehicles in Casemates on Sunday 21st September as from 10am.

The CUTW parade will depart from casemates Square at 11am on Saturday 20th. Environment Minister Dr Cortes, along with CUTW organisers, will address those gathered.
