Sep 30 - Fun With Recycling as Environment Department Develops Thinking Green Kids Zone

recycling game As part of the Government’s move to significantly raise awareness of environmental issues on the Rock, the Department of the Environment has developed an educational and amusing game teaching children about recycling, including what items are allowed in what bins. The Thinking Green website has seen the addition of the Kids Zone which as well as including games has articles and information aimed at the younger generation.

This comes as one of a number of apps being developed by the Department as part of the Environmental awareness programme. Environment Minister Dr. Cortes explained that recycling had increased notably in the past coupe of years. ‘One way of influencing public opinion clearly is through children,’ the Minister added.  recycling

The Kids Zone also includes information on natural areas around the Rock and important aspects of our environment including marine life. The Gibraltar Recycling game is only compatible on PC, but does allow players to make use of their webcams, allowing for a fully interactive experience. The game helps to develop understanding of one of the Department’s most asked questions, ‘which bins are used to recycle which items’.
