Oct 01 - Bet365 Restructure Moves Operations to Gibraltar

bet365Gaming giant Bet365 have announced that as part of a major corporate restructuring, it is moving operations, including the sportsbook team, to Gibraltar. E Gaming Review claims that the company’s Stoke-on-Trent offices will continue to uphold a presence, with approximately 2,000 members of staff, including the board of Directors.

Reports have claimed that around 150 roles are to be created and will be made up of new recruits and relocated staff. Most will be connected to the operator’s sportsbook sector. The Chief Trading Officer will also make the move to Bet365’s Waterport Place offices, which are set to be expanded.

With the company looking to expand on its licences, which currently include Britain, Denmark, Spain, Italy and Australia, the move to Gibraltar will allow for simplified regulations. The bet365 branded gaming business has operated in Gibraltar for 7 years.

The announcement of the move comes amidst a nail-biting period of uncertainty on the UK's Point of Consumption Tax, which was meant to be implemented today, but was postponed to November following a request from the judge of the legal case between the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association and the UK Government. The case was heard last week in London's High Court, and is now awaiting Lord Justice Green's judgement.
