Nov 27 - Care Agency Participates In Convent Christmas Fair

Service users from St Bernadette’s Resource Centre and Waterport Day Centre, along with residents of Mount Alvernia, have been working hard over the past few months learning new skills with which to prepare a wide selection of arts and crafts for a stall at this year’s Convent Christmas Fair.

The Care Agency says that projects such as this provide an important platform to promote arts and crafts locally and to bring home the importance and benefits of remaining active, both physically and mentally, whatever one’s age. Service users, says the Agency, have totally embraced the project from the outset: they have thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and derived great satisfaction from producing creative pieces of work to a high standard. Organisers say that the level of team spirit displayed throughout has been really phenomenal and speaks volumes for the success of future projects of this kind.

Samantha Sacramento, Minister for Equality, Social Services & the Elderly said ‘The stall demonstrates that, through the activities sessions undertaken in the Care Agency, all service users are able and encouraged to be as productive and creative as possible, and they do so with great success. This has been a very rewarding and stimulating exercise for all involved and everyone is keen to display their works.’
