Feb 26 - Bill Amendments Allow Beach Access to Dogs
Legislation, a Bill and regulations published today in the Gazette will result in dogs being allowed on Eastern beach during the winter season, from 1st November to 15th March. The amendment to Seashore Rules allows dogs in the section north of the central groyne.
A further Bill to amend the Animals and Birds Act will now require all dogs to be microchipped in line with practice in many European countries. Although most dog owners already adhere to this, there will a period of grace to allow time for the remaining dogs to be microchipped.
These movements have been drafted in consultation with the Responsible Pet Owner’s Association and GSPCA.
