Mar 04 - FSC Appoints Michael Lynch As Head Of Enforcement

The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission ("FSC") is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Michael Lynch to the position of Head of Enforcement at the FSC. A new high-level role at the FSC, Mr Lynch will be responsible for the implementation of the FSC’s new enforcement function, focused on delivering real and meaningful consequences to those that pose a risk to consumer protection and the reputation of the Gibraltar Financial Services Centre.

Mr Lynch joins the FSC from the Royal Gibraltar Police (“RGP”), after a 36-year career in law enforcement. A Chief Inspector, he brings with him extensive local and international policing experience, including wide-ranging involvement in, and leadership of, multiple case management and financial investigations. Together with a strong management background, Mr Lynch is very well placed to lead on the FSC’s enforcement work. Mr Lynch will initially be seconded by the RGP to the Commission as from 10 March 2015 before officially commencing his role on 11th May 2015 on his formal retirement from the RGP.

Commenting on Mr Lynch’s appointment Mrs Samantha Barrass, CEO said “the FSC has been working hard to take forward the priorities set out in its strategic plan, published in October 2014. Michael’s appointment is a further significant step forward that demonstrates our commitment to reinforce a credible enforcement approach that delivers effective outcomes, designed to protect the public interest.”
